MSIs include Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). MSIs are predominately located in the western, southern, and eastern areas of the United States.
There are over 700 federally designated minority serving institutions (MSIs) across the country. MSIs represent about 14 percent of all degree-granting institutions in the U.S. and they enroll nearly 30 percent of the nation's college undergraduates.
