Is FKM reach compliant?
Optimal Compliance and Compatibility with Tecnoflon® FKM
Solvay's Tecnoflon® FKM grades are REACH-compliant and select grades have been submitted for ISO 10993 biocompatibility testing.
Is FKM FDA approved?
Known more commonly by its trade name of Viton™, fluorocarbons or FKM are high performance FDA approved silicone materials. They cope well with high temperatures, are chemically resistance and do not absorb water. Is FKM and Viton the same?
These rubber compounds give exceptional heat resistance with compatibility across many fluids or chemical exposures. The most commonly known name for these compounds is “Viton,”™ which has become the generic name for all FKM polymers and rubber compounds. Is Viton better than FKM?
Fluoro-Elastomer is usually referred to as FKM FPM or as VITON™ after the popular brand which produces it. You may see this rubber listed in different places with these different names, but they are all one and the same.Is fluorocarbon the same as FKM?
Fluorocarbon (or Viton® as it's is more commonly known) is a brand name of DuPont. In situations where both temperatures and the surrounding conditions can be extreme, Fluorocarbon offers excellent performance.[Webinar] REACH Compliance: What You Need to Know
Is FPM and FKM the same?
The terms Viton® O-rings, FPM and FKM often lead to confusion and incorrect interpretations. FPM is the ISO designation, FKM is the ASTM designation. Viton®, Dai-El and Technoflon are brands for FPM polymers. All of the designations stand for one single base material, which is fluoro rubber. Is FKM plastic or rubber?
Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. FKM is a family of fluorocarbon-based fluoroelastomer materials defined by ASTM International standard D1418, and ISO standard 1629. It is commonly called fluorine rubber or fluoro-rubber. All FKMs contain vinylidene fluoride as a monomer. Is FKM the same as PTFE?
FKM offers greater temperature resistance but falls short of PTFE's properties in terms of chemical resistance. While PTFE is slightly less thermally resistant but offers much in the way of non-adhesive properties. Is FKM a fluoroelastomer?
FKM is the ASTM designation for a class of fluorinated, carbon-based synthetic rubber, commonly known as fluoroelastomer. FKM has impressive heat resistance, allowing FKM seals to withstand temperatures greater than 200°C.Is Viton an FKM or FFKM?
Both materials are well suited for use in the -15 to 205°C range. FKM has an advantage in lower temperatures and FFKM has an advantage in higher temperatures. Marco offers specific compound formulations extending these ranges even futher as can be seen in the following compound comparison chart. Is fluorocarbon FKM Viton?
Viton® by ERIKSViton® is the brand name for fluorocarbon rubber polymers of the Chemours Company. This type of polymer is used extensively by ERIKS, however we do not claim or promote the use of any specific brands of polymers in our compounds.
What is the difference between EPDM and FKM?
EPDM (EP, EPR, Ethylene-Propylene Rubber) Both materials are well suited for use in the -30 to 150°C range. FKM has an advantage in lower temperatures and EPDM has an advantage in higher temperatures. Is FKM rubber good?
FKM is of high value in use as a class of synthetic rubber which provides extraordinary levels of resistance to chemicals, oil and heat. This type of rubber can be fabricated into seals, o-rings, and hoses for a variety of high performance applications in the automotive, aerospace, and petrochemical industries. Is FPM food Safe?
Viton® is often referred to as a material, but is actually a brand name of a fluoroelastomer. Qseals can supply Viton O-rings with EC1935/2004 certification. These O-rings are therefore fully food-grade and FDA approved. Is Viton food Safe?
FDA Viton A is well suited for food and lab applications where FDA compliance is required. This material has good chemical resistance, high temperature properties and is resistant to corrosives. Safe to use for repeated food exposure. Is FKM rubber vulcanized?
If you compare FKM and vulcanized rubber, FKM is like the superhero, synthesized cousin to the latter. Vulcanized rubber is made by mixing natural rubber with additives (such as sulfur) in the process called vulcanization, which makes the material stronger and more flexible. Is FKM a silicone?
TYM Seals & GasketsTYM has nearly 40 years experience in supplying and manufacturing gaskets and seals made from silicone, FKM fluoroelastomer, neoprene, nitrile and more.
Is fluorocarbon the same as fluoroelastomer?
Fluoroelastomers also known as fluorocarbon compounds are used in a wide variety of high performance applications. What is the difference between FKM and NBR?
Standard Viton® / FKM vs Standard NitrileStandard Viton®/FKM compounds can provide continuous sealing at temperatures up to approximately +205°C. Standard NBR on the other hand is only effective for continuous sealing at temperatures up to +110°C (with short term sealing at 130°C.)
Is Viton better than PTFE?
Viton vs Teflon (PTFE) - Viton offers a greater temperature resistance but falls short of Teflons(PTFE) chemical resistance. Also, Teflon is slightly less thermally resistant but offers much more in the way of non-adhesive properties. What is the difference between FKM and FFKM?
The key difference between FKM and FFKM is that FKM offers a less degree of versatility compared to that of FFKM. FFKM can withstand comparatively high temperatures than FKM. Moreover, FKM is more resistant to burning than non-fluorinated hydrocarbon compounds while FFKM is self-extinguishing and non-flammable in air. What is FKM polymer?
Fluoroelastomers or Fluorocarbons (FKM), also known as Viton®, are highly fluorinated polymers that are suitable for continuous use at elevated temperatures. Various grades are available, including copolymer and terpolymers. Is fluorocarbon the same as Viton?
Viton or Fluorocarbon is a brand of fluoropolymer elastomer and synthetic rubber. It combines high outstanding chemical resistance with great high temperature resistance. This makes fluorocarbon based compounds almost ideal for a universal O Ring material. What is FKM rubber watch strap?
FKM - Fluoroelastomer, which is a class of man-made rubber of great density, made to stand harsh conditions, such as high temperature and chemicals, etc. This 20mm Quick Release Watch Band is waterproof, great for outdoor use and that's why FKM rubber strap is highly popular among divers and adventurers.
