Do you cut yarn when changing colors?

When you get to the point where you'll be changing colors, finish the last stitch on the row you're working on. New colors usually get added at the beginning of a new row. When you add a new color, don't cut the yarn from the original color. Instead, just leave it hanging where you left off.

When you change color in knitting do you cut first yarn?

When you're ready to start working the second color, simply drop the first color and pick up the yarn for the second color. Leave a yarn tail of at least six inches on your new color. This will make it easy to weave the ends in securely when you finish the knitting.

How often should you catch floats?

When you catch your floats, your carried yarn will be caught by your working yarn, behind the stitches without showing on the front. You can catch your float every other stitch or every 4th or 5th stitch. Jeanne prefers every 4th or 5th stitch.
